Nearly a quarter of teens say they’re online almost constantly, according to new data collected by the Pew Research Center. About 56 percent of teens between the ages of 13 and 17 go online several times a day, and a full 92 percent check in at least once a day.

You can thank—or blame—smartphones for all this online activity. Nearly three-quarters of teens say they have, or at least have access to, a smartphone—far more than the 12 percent who say they can’t get a hold of a mobile phone at all. About nine-tenths of these smartphone-having kids say they access the Internet at least occasionally from those devices.

Also of interest: While teens allegedly turn a cold shoulder to Facebook in favor of more trendy social networks such as Instagram and Twitter, they still use it an awful lot. In fact, 71 percent of teens are active on Facebook, which makes it still the most popular social network. (Instagram is a distant second with 52 percent of teens using.) Still, they spread their social network love around: About 71 percent say they use more than one social network. (Pew Research)
