Nathan Schwartz, 20, trumped a pack of 15,000 contestants and won this year’s Texting Championship in New York City, a competition sponsored by cell phone manufacturer LG.

Contestants had to type messages like, “I am sooo ready 4 this down n dirty battle on the QWERTY!” in less than 90 seconds, typo-free. With a first prize worth $50,000, many competitors practiced for months before the first tourney began, though others admittedly get plenty of practice anyway. Last year’s winner, 14-year-old Morgan Pozgar, said she sends about 4,000 text messages every month.

Has anyone checked these kids for steroids?
