Two pop culture icons are celebrating anniversaries. Here’s how you can tie these events into your teaching.

The Simpsons clan is celebrating 20 years on TV. When Fox, the show’s network, asked for an anniversary program, the show’s creators could have strung together a bunch of clips from the show; but they were more creative than that. They asked documentary film maker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me, etc.) to create “The Simpsons’ 20th Anniversary Special — in 3D! On Ice!” The show airs Jan. 10, 2010.

Do any of your kids watch “The Simpsons”? If so, discuss some of the show’s religious themes, which recently were praised by the Vatican.
