Running into Water: Women Immersed in the Pursuit of God
Angela Blycker
Authentic Publishing, 2009, 226 pp., $12.99

To be honest, I rarely choose to read books about being a Christian woman or mother because I often find them shallow and canned. Running into Water is surprisingly different. It is deeper, more thoughtful, personal and global. Infused with biblical narrative, theological insight and many personal stories, Blycker intertwines the metaphor of water and thirst with our pursuit of God in beliefs, practices and intentions. Each chapter concludes with a prayer and challenges for further biblical study and reflection.

While this is not a book about motherhood or raising kids, it clearly is written from the perspective of a mom. Blycker uses her experiences and insight as a mother to consider her relationship with God, her kids and the world. I recommend this book for those who are looking for something deeper to consider in their own life journey as a mother and child of God.
