Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., is requiring all of its incoming students to wear a Fitbit to keep track of their required fitness goals; but while the Fitbit requirement is new, ORU’s commitment to physical fitness isn’t. The school long has required students to journal manually their aerobic activity as part of its Whole Person Education Program.

“The marriage of new technology with our physical fitness requirements is something that sets ORU apart,” said ORU President William M. Wilson in a statement. “In fact, when we began this innovative program in the fall of 2015, we were the first university in the world to offer this unique approach to a fitness program.” (New York Daily News)
