The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending that the U.S. government raise the minimum age to buy tobacco products and e-cigarettes to be raised to 21.

The dangers of tobacco use are well-documented, and perhaps the call to increase the minimum age isn’t that surprising. Yet the AAP also called out e-cigarettes for their use of liquid nicotine, which the organization says can be extremely dangerous for children. More than 3,000 calls have been recorded by hospitals and emergency rooms regarding exposure to liquid nicotine. (CNN)
