Only a quarter of adults between the ages of 18 and 46 believe they’ll be able to help their kids go to college, according to a study from Amerprise Financial. That’s way down from the 47 percent of the adults who answered similarly in 2007, the last time the survey was taken. Even more well-to-do adults feel less confident in helping their progeny into the world of higher education. Only 24 percent of adults between the ages of 47 and 65 feel confident they’d be able to help their kids or grandkids go to school. That’s horrible news, obviously, for youth going into college and already in debt. In late March, the total amount for outstanding student debt in the United States surpassed $1 trillion for the first time in history. (Time)
