With hiring still stagnant even after the country supposedly came out of the Great Recession, youth are still desperate to find work. Last June, 12.1 percent of young adults under age 30 were unemployed, according to the non-profit organization Generation Opportunity, and that’s not taking into account the youth who either had given up looking for work or were underemployed—working one or a series of part-time jobs to make ends meet. “One out of two college graduates right now are either unemployed or under-employed,” says Paul Conway, head of Generation Opportunity. He says that many are “desperately trying to find full-time jobs, not just a series of part-time jobs.” (ABC News)
