We don’t need researchers to tell us that teens love their cell phones or that this affection sometimes can trickle close to an obsession. Still, it was interesting what a survey found youth would be willing to give up to keep their phones. Nearly half (46%) of 15- to 17-year-olds said they’d punt their family refrigerators to the curb if it meant they’d be able to keep their phones. Seven out of 10 would lose their microwaves, and 72 percent would bid a fond farewell to their videogame systems. Only 16 percent would give up their car for their phones, however. Teens say they most often use their phones for texting. Actually, talking with people was the second most popular use, followed by social networking, listening to music and email. (MediaPost)
