I recently had a chance to spend some time with Young Noah. The artists at ClearSight are the same in that they are all passionate and genuine; Young Noah is no different. The track we’re looking at is called “Everybody Ugly.” It comes across pretty funny until you figure out what he is talking about. Young Noah said he came to write this song basically by figuring out everyone has sinned; therefore, everybody ugly! He says:

“I wanted everyone to know we’ve all sinned and fallen short of God’s requirements. Thanks be to God that Jesus [came] to Earth to complete the work of salvation. Now all people can come boldly to His throne of grace, believe and be saved.”

Romans 3:23 says all have sinned and came short of the glory of God. Take a look at how Young Noah describes it:

Yeah man! We’ve all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.
There is none righteous no not one. Everybody ugly!!!

Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly
Errbody Ugly Errbody Ugly Errbody Ugly Errbody Ugly

Everybody ugly we all fell short.
We all put nails in Him we all fell for it.
We all strung Him up everybody hands bloody.
We all took the money laughed and looked at Him funny.
Everybody guilty everybody filthy.
Everybody ugly everybody killed Him.
Everybody lying everybody cheating.
Everybody cursing everybody thieving.
Everybody sneaking everybody creeping.
We all in sin we all in deeply.
We all need freeing we all live heathen.
We all disobedient and need Jesus.
No not one not none but some.
Came to the cross like John.
In amazement staring up at God Son

Slain so that we might come.

Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly
I’m Ugly You Ugly He Ugly She Ugly

U.G.L.Y. no alibi.
Malachi 3:8.
We all robbed God we all held Him hostage.
We all hid our faces we all living ostrich.
We all passed on life to eat something toxic.
We all bit into that pear homie I was there.
And ate the fruit of the loom like that underwear.
But then I realized I wasn’t wearing any.
I guess I had a little luciferian in me.
Sin had me plugged in homie like a socket.
Yeah man I was history Davy Crockett.
But now I’m trying to fight back Iraq.
And let Jesus take the wheel like I’m car jacked.
Yeah man I’m ready for the refiner’s fire.
Go ahead and burn my house down Mi shack.
Because my life’s jacked up I’m changing attire.

Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly Everybody Ugly
I’m Ugly You Ugly He Ugly She Ugly

You think you’re cute huh? V.Rose said it.
Got attitude huh? But we are pathetic.
Everybody fell short trying to jump a hurdle.
Because we gotta rock a ugly shell like a ninja turtle.
Yeah we all got heck of sin
I pray the Lord toss them in the sea Waikiki
I just wanna be saved like I’m debt free.
I just wanna be made MTV
Don’t wanna get played MP3
When the Lord tell me move I Nintendo Wii
I been set Free Willy, but only by his grace,
And I ain’t talking dinner plates.
I been blessed with a voice to project like section 8
I tell them everybody ugly about to catch a case
We need to be made over more than in the face
And investigate our hearts First 48.

Yo momma ugly ya daddy ya sister ugly.
Homeboy ugly ya cousin ugly ya uncle ugly ya nephew ugly.
Ya baby ugly yeah ya baby ugly I’m ugly I’m out.

I believe that just about sums it up. I feel a little uglier now…

In all seriousness, there is a solid sermon outline in these lyrics. Here are three points:

1)  Sin began in the garden. The Bible says man was good before Adam sinned against God. God commanded us not to eat of the fruit, but we did. In Genesis 3, God outlines the repercussions of our sin.

2) As Young Noah points out, we put Jesus on that cross. Because of our sin, He had to come and die for us. We all drove the nails in His hand and feet.

3) The beauty of this is that His love for us overcame all sin. In John 3:16, it says clearly that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.

All of us have sinned and will continue to sin, but sin has lost its sting because of Jesus on the cross. No matter where you are now or where you are going, Jesus can save you from sin. He is looking for a personal relationship with you, but the question is if you are looking for that personal relationship with Him.

We never should leave this world the same way we found it. Let’s make a difference!
