Every youth worker, whether paid or volunteer, should have this book. Van Pelt and Hancock systematically work through all the different aspects of what it means to be a
teenager in crisis, how to approach crisis, how to refer, legal ramifications, and more. In addition to being a great guidebook on what crisis is, the latter half of the book includes
instruction on how to handle specific crises. Also included is a treasure trove of forms and emergency contact information. This book makes a great textbook for the classroom or a self-guided reference work. Having it handy when you get that emergency call gives you the resources you need to be prepared and confident. Definitely a must-have.
