“Skins,” an American version of a controversial British show, is generating even more attention for MTV. The series features plenty of sex, drinking and drugs. Episode one, which aired Jan. 17, featured masturbation, profanity and creative ideas for losing one’s virginity. The show is created in part by teenagers.

Here’s what’s new: The episode scheduled to be broadcast Jan. 31 included shots of a nude 17-year-old actor (playing the show character of Chris) that may violate U.S. child porn laws.

The show is controversial enough, even without nudity. One episode focused on Chris’ concern about a difficult erection caused by his use of erectile dysfunction medications.

Certainly, there are real-world kids out there who practice sex like the kids on the show, but will “Skins” lead some kids to think these practices are the new normal?
