Furay, a 1997 inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was a founding member of the pioneering ’60s folk-rock group Buffalo Springfield (“For What It’s Worth”) with Neil Young. Then he founded Poco with Jim Messina (later of Loggins and Messina). Next came a conversion to Christianity, the release of well-received rock  and worship releases, and the decision to become a pastor of a Calvary Chapel in Boulder, Colo., where Furay has served for more than two decades.

Denver journalist Michael Roberts delivers the facts with minimal flair (and less drama than some readers may like). And a concluding chapter on the spiritual tensions that arose when Pastor Furay participated in a Buffalo Springfield reunion tour provides insight into continuing tensions between Christ and culture. Overall, a fitting tribute to a key player in the Christian music scene.
