Players form a circle with the leader in the center. The leader tells the players to rub their stomachs with their right hands while patting the tops of their heads with their left hands. When he calls, “Change!” they must reverse the action, by patting their stomachs and rubbing their heads. Those who fail to switch over correctly are eliminated. To make the game more difficult, the leader may also call out, “Change hands!” The players must then move their left hands from head to stomach, and their right hands from stomach to head without disturbing the pat-rub pattern.

Variations: In Crossed Wires, the leader tells the players to grab their left ears with their right hands and stroke their noses with their left hands. At the commands of “Change!” and “Change hands!” the same rules apply as in Pat and Rub.
