According to an article in The Chronicle of Higher Education, colleges are advising professors not to let students know where they live, give out home phone numbers, nor even list their home numbers. Professors admit to feeling physically intimidated by students, who have learned intimidation and implied threats will achieve their desired results in the wake of “negotiations” and “flexibility” being seen as the more sophisticated approach to dealing with confrontation. The implications extend beyond academia to society as a whole, even internationally.
