Husband and wife duo, NewFire, is pleased to announce the release of their national debut album. The self-titled project will be available in stores across the country and through digital download June 3, 2008.

Produced by Michael Boggs of FFH, NewFire has a fresh, organic sound with their own blend of “newgrass.” The group’s unique musical approach is epitomized by mixing contemporary pop stylings with home-style folk/bluegrass instrumentation and worshipful melodies and lyrics.

The first single, “Treasures in Heaven,” is making an impact at radio now through Creative Promotions.

“This song is based on Matthew 6:19-21, a passage of Scripture that really ministered to us while we were recording the album,” describes Jonathan Firey, the duo’s main vocalist.  “We found ourselves focusing on so many wordly things that were becoming our source of joy and affirmation and this Scripture helped us put our focus back on the Lord and challenged us to seek out our identity in Him.”

Firey continues: “With this song we hope to remind ourselves and others that God is our source–He is Life. Musically, I’m excited about this single and the album as a whole because I feel our sound is really fresh. It has a contemporary feel without losing my acoustic roots.”

Jonathan and Allison Firey are both seasoned artists in their fields. As a singer, songwriter and guitarist, Jonathan has toured with some of Christian music’s most popular artists, including FFH, Dennis Jernigan and Phil Keaggy, among others, and released a number of instrumental albums, including Prayerful Moods in 2006, which was named in the Top 20 selling albums for Rhapsody Music in the Instrumental category. He is endorsed by Gibson, Epiphone, Larrivee and Elixir strings. Allison is also an accomplished artist; she is a vocalist and actress and has traveled for the last several years with touring companies, dinner theaters and summer stocks. Together, the Fireys have recently taken over Firey Music Company, the family-owned music store in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jonathan and Allison consider NewFire their calling and have a vision to minister to and touch the hearts of both believers and those who need to know about God’s love and salvation.

Allison comments on NewFire’s ministry: “When we go out to minister, we often share what we are going through personally so others might not feel alone in their struggles. As a young married couple, we feel we can reach a wide range of people; we can still bond with the youth of a church, but at the same time sing a song with a message that can speak to the adults, as well. We feel blessed to have the freedom to travel and share our hearts and music during this season of our lives.”

In support of their new album, NewFire plans to hit the road this June on the “Identity Crisis” Tour, joined by Farewell June.  The tour will make stops in South Dakota, Montana, Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico.  Additional information about the tour, including routing, will be announced soon.
