Haiti Partners are sponsoring a Win-a-Missions-Trip-to-Haiti contest through which six people will win an all-expenses-paid, five-day missions trip to Haiti with InterVarsity Press author Kent Annan (Following Jesus Through the Eye of the Needle: Living Fully, Loving Dangerously). Contestants are asked to submit either a 2- to 3-minute video or a 300- to 400-word essay that answers: “How will going to Haiti encourage you to live dangerously and love fully?”

Annan is codirector of Haiti Partners, a nonprofit organization focused on education in Haiti so that Haitians can improve their own situations and children will grow up with better lives. His book, Following Jesus Through the Eye of the Needle, tells the story of his move to Haiti with his wife and weaves together the joys and stumbles of living and ministering in a Two-Thirds World environment with reflections about faith, doubt, love and God.

As Annan explains, this trip is about more than just going to serve: “We go to listen and understand, to see the progress and the struggles, as we talk with Haitians from different sectors of society. This way each person on the trip really can learn how to help meaningfully and respectfully. I think the transformation happens both ways. My experience is that we need each other. This trip will be an exciting way to live that for five days.”

The contest is open to anyone age 18 and above who has a desire to learn about what God is doing in Haiti and to see firsthand the work and blessing involved in partnering with those who live without many of life’s basic necessities. Submissions will be accepted between Nov. 20-Feb. 15, 2010. Winners will
be announced March 1, 2010. Travel will take place May 20-24, 2010, and will involve trekking through the country meeting with grassroots leaders,

business leaders, Haiti Partners, Haitian leaders and politicians. More contest information, as well as rules and regulations, can be found at IVPress.com or Haiti Partners.org.
