If you’ve watched “Glee,” you probably saw the episode with a novel new product called the Grilled Cheesus–and it’s not just a prop for the show! Meg Sheehan and Rob Corso, 2002 graduates of Loyola College in Maryland, recently designed and created this sandwich press that puts the face of Jesus onto a sandwich.

Meg explained, “I was having a conversation a few years ago about people who see Jesus and Mary in their food, in particular the woman who saw Mary in her grilled cheese…she was all over the news! I thought, “Wouldn’t it be neat if there was a sandwich maker that put the face of Jesus on the bread, allowing everyone to feel His presence?”

This product will be manufactured at a factory overseas, as they had some trouble locating a U.S. factory that could provide what they were seeking. It is not being made at a special rate; it is being treated as any sandwich maker, but this has not affected their ultimate goal of starting a company that can give back and help feed the hungry.

The synchronicity with “Glee” “was completely serendipitous,” Meg said. “We filed for the Grilled Cheesus trademark in February 2010, and the ‘Glee’ episode aired in October 2010. The fact that it was such a hit with ‘Glee’ fans was a sign that our idea would be well received.”

Meg went on to say they would “love to have youth workers use these in their ministries as a clever way to speak to youth and help spread the Christian message.  We feel it can speak to all Christians, but the youth in particular.”

Meg and Rob’s primary motivation is to do good for this world and say they “just need a little help to get started.”
