Read Psalms 139:13-18.

If we’re honest, feeling “wonderfully made” is not something that comes naturally to us. We are surrounded by people who tell us what clothes we should wear, what size we should be, how much skin we should show and exactly what we must be interested in if we want to be cool. It’s been happening so long that for many of us, we don’t even notice anymore.

When given a choice, I always choose the bad news first. So here it is: Our pursuit of cool might be the very thing contributing to the distance we feel from our God who created us to be fulfilled only when we are in relationship with Him.

Think about that. How much time do you spend pursuing things you hope will fill you? Your appearance, likeable personality, athletic ability, good grades, talents, reputation — sure, some of those things might make you happy, which is OK! However, do they ever really complete you? Do you ever feel that it’s enough?

It isn’t, and it will never be. Why?

Colossians 1:15-17 says, “The son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things and in Him all things hold together.”

You were fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
You were created in Him.
You were created for Him.
You are held together in Him and by Him.

You will never experience a complete, whole, abundant life if you try to achieve it through appearance, talents, grades or anything else on this earth.

Are you ready for the good news?

When you begin to replace the lies you’ve believed with the truth that you are wonderfully made, that you were created by the God of the universe who has a specific plan for you, that He is holding you together, you will experience a life that is full and complete — the one for which He created you.

Take some time and ask God to show you the things you are pursuing that need to be replaced with the truth of who He created you to be.
