Set an object (the “bacon”) in the middle of the field. Divide into two teams and have everyone count off: Each team member gets a number which matches that of a specific member on the other team. The referee calls out a number (or several numbers) and those players run to the middle and attempt to get the object back to their side without being tagged. If they make it across the line they get two points — if they don’t, the other team gets one point for the tag.

Some variations: Have them hop or crawl or crab-walk.

In this brief video, watch the three congregations of First Evangelical Church of Diamond Bar, Calif., get together to play “Steal the Bacon” with a beach ball.

More variations on a theme:

  1. Steal the … Squirt Gun!! (EGAD! Ideas)
  2. Capture the Flag (Group-Games.com)
