In Black’s previous Kingdom series, he explores biblical stories through a medieval-styled narrative. He retells the stories of Adam, Moses, Jesus and His disciples, and of the apostle Paul. Now, Black steers away from the allegorical and writes his own, original stories, exploring the fantastical world he created in the Kingdom series.

The new Knights of Arrenthtrae series teaches positive lessons using the same King Arthur-type excitement as in his previous books. Black’s characters explore their faith and fight for the king and his prince. As with the Kingdom series, Black includes discussion questions at the end of each book. These questions can help younger readers connect the story with the biblical truths and values that lie within; it also could be utilized in a study-group setting. Not only does Black open the door to exciting possibilities by telling his own stories, but he also is improving as a writer.
