“Borat” creator Sacha Baron Cohen brings us “Bruno,” a movie about a character of the same name who is a gay Austrian fashion reporter bringing new meaning to the word “out.” Critics and bloggers are debating whether the film is pro-gay (some conservatives fear the movie mainstreams homosexuality) or anti-gay (some pro-gay groups think the film traffics in gay stereotypes and will generate homophobic reactions).

The movie arrives at an interesting cultural moment:
– 40 years ago, the gay movement arrived in the media due to the Stonewall riots;

– “American Idol” runner up Adam Lambert has come out in recent weeks;

– gay marriage has been approved in many states;

– and more straight and gay men are becoming friends (see Douglas Quenqua’s New York Times article, “I Love You, Man (as a Friend).”

How do you deal with homosexuality with your kids? How will you respond to their reactions if they view or debate “Bruno” (the film is rated R).
