While there are stacks of resources for parents out there, very few of them have been tested by time like this one.

These words, penned in the 1800s, are bold, blunt and timeless. Authority, friend selection, work habits and rest always will be topics churning in the gut of the family unit. Gardiner Spring’s words are so deep in wisdom that I longed to sit, asking questions at his feet.

Marrying Scripture and family life can be like trying to eat healthy on a road trip; it’s just a struggle. We know these are vital principles, but the chaos of real life seems to get in the way.

As my wife and I will be parents in less than a year, we will be coming back to the underlines, circles and notes I scratched in the margins.
