In the wake of an Ohio grand jury refusing not to indict police officer Timothy Loehmann for the murder of 12-year-old Cleveland resident Tamir Rice, angry activists tried to leverage two very 21st century tools—celebrity and social media—to force Loehmann to trial. Using the hashtag #NoJusticeNoLebron, activists are asking that LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ famed basketball star, to sit out and lead an NBA boycott until law enforcement brings Loehmann back to court. “It’s more than a game and you know it,” one tweet reads. “Tamir could have been your son,” says another. While James has a history of standing against racial bias and supporting social causes, he has yet to sit out a game. (MTV)
