More than half the food advertised during kids’ television programs don’t meet the U.S. government’s nutritional guidelines, according to a study published in Preventing Chronic Disease.

Children see about 10 to 13 food ads on TV every day, the study says—about half of those during programs that cater directly to kids—but about a third of those advertised foodstuffs were above the fed’s suggested limit for sugar; 23 percent were above the limits for saturated fat; and 15 percent were high in sodium.
