Introduction: Describe to the person sitting next to you a way you drive from church to your house. Is there another way you could go if one of the roads you normally use were blocked? Describe to the person sitting next to you a way that you could make a scrambled egg. Is there another way you could do it?

Study
1. Read John 14:6. What is the first “I Am” statement Jesus makes in this verse? (I am the way…)

2. According to this verse, what is Jesus talking about? What is He the Way to? Also according to this verse, what is another way someone could take? What’s the difference between saying, “I am the way…” or “I am a way?” (The way implies there isn’t any other. A way implies there might be other options available.) Earlier we talked about a way to drive to your house or a way to scramble an egg. Can you think of something where there might only be one way to do something? (Math problems: 2+2 is always 4.)

3.We’re going to take some time to look up various passages in Scripture that talk about this, as well. Divide into even smaller groups; or as an individual, read the verse, then share with the rest of the group how it agrees with the premise that Jesus is the Way to the Father and heaven.
Acts 4:12
Matthew 7:13
John 3:16-18
Romans 6:23

Challenge

Sometimes people will call Christians close-minded or egotistical when they hear us say the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. Keep in mind we aren’t the ones who made that up. We are choosing to believe that what Jesus says is true! How would you answer someone who asked you, “How can I get to heaven?” (If you have time in your group, you can role play this.)
