Spring Fling

By Todd Outcalt | March 14 2012
Every church needs an annual Spring Fling, and the teenagers are the ones who can make it happen. Here's how it works.

Invite the teenagers to bring their unwanted items from home to an upcoming meeting. Winter clothing, shoes, small appliances—any items they no longer will use.

Gather these into a pile and create these fun outdoor events by teams:

Junk Toss—pick an item from the pile and see which team can toss it the farthest.

Faux Fashion—using only the discarded clothing, see which team can create the most remarkable ensemble from mixing/matching/cutting/piecing together.

Round Up—sprinkle the items around the yard and see which team is fastest at gathering the items and placing them into a plastic tub.

At the end of the event, take the items to a thrift shop or Goodwill store for donation, or invite each team to sell its various items as a fundraiser for the group.
