Smartphones have become the norm, according to a new poll from the Nielsen Company. More than half of all Americans now use one, with their use particularly popular among the young. About 74 percent of folks ages 25 to 34 own a smartphone, up from 59 percent last July; 58 percent of teens ages 13 to 17 also own one—far more than the third of American teens who owned one last year. Despite the press the iPhone 5 has gotten, the majority of users—52 percent—own an Android-based phone, with just a little more than 34 percent owning an iPhone. (PC Magazine)
