Words to Works/Go Missions started in 1997 by Pastor Nick Pheonix. The organization now offers churches and groups a safe and valuable opportunity to experience a low-cost, high-impact outreach/mission trip by serving at-risk kids in an urban setting. Participants have the chance to partner together in the great commission to reach many children at one time, as well as strengthen their discipleship development and leadership training.

Another key component is that participants can take what they have learned and duplicate those lessons elsewhere. Think of the impact youth can make in their own cities by implementing such a program they can tweak in their own communities.

TESTIMONY: We have been doing daycamps at a Washington Heights housing project for more than a year. They are considered the second most dangerous complex in the city. Because of our consistency, monthly calls to police from that complex have been cut in half. The management there firmly believes it's because of our ministry to the kids who have caused this downturn of trouble.

First-time mission trip groups: 70 percent of participants are first-timers. They undergo equipping and are guided through each day. They're just asked to come with a heart for doing God's work and reaching the lost and hurting. It's a great way to get your feet wet for missions.

Missions are tailored for each group, based on: Group size, age, experience, gifts talents, etc. Special requests also are incorporated into mission trips as possible (i.e., use your youth group's creative gifts and talents, sports or drama camps). All ages, group sizes and experience levels are welcome!

Minimal planning on your part! Each day is scheduled and planned by the Words to Works team. We also send provide a Go Missions workbook as a resource to help participants mentally, spiritually and financially prepare for each trip.

Serving and outreach activities include: day camps for kids, afternoon community service and/or construction projects, street ministry, evening block parties and His Warehouse ministry that serves the homeless and others who have physical and spiritual needs.

Absolutely the lowest cost, high-impact domestic mission/outreach trip you could take: 1, 3 and 7 day mission trips available ($39, $125 and $240 respectively, per person). Price includes lodging, food, missions workbook and T-shirt!

7-day trip - $750 (then midterm and final payment)

3-day trip - $500 (then midterm and final payment)

1-day trip - $250 (balance due one week prior to departure)
