Eric Mason
B&H Books, 2015, 208 pp., $14.27

There are so many people with great potential in various areas of life, but their potential is never reached. In Eric Mason’s new book, Unleashed, he is burdened by newborn Christians who never pursue becoming conformed to the image of Christ. As a pastor, he sees so many Christians who receive Christ but then fail to follow Him. Mason admonishes and pleads with Christians to position themselves before the Lord so the power of God may be unleashed in their lives. As Christians truly pursue sanctification, the church will shine brighter in the midst of our darkening world.

Mason has a tremendous gift of communicating lofty theological truths in an easily digestible way. Throughout the 178 pages, he talks about the power of the gospel, the role of the Holy Spirit, faith, the Word of God and prayer. He also includes chapters on subjects that you wouldn’t expect to be in a book about sanctification, such as strongholds and marriage. His chapter on strongholds is aimed right at the hearts of his readers so people may repent. All the chapters are saturated with the gospel and are beneficial to the spiritual infant and mature Christian.

This book would be great to give to people who just received Christ as their Lord and Savior. In a way, it answers the question, “What’s next?” However, it also would be a great resource to use for discipleship of any maturity level. This is a great book to have multiple copies on hand to pass along to church members.
