This is a fun way to create teams for other games—especially with large groups or for games like softball, kickball, etc. Choose two people to serve as captains of their respective teams and inform them they will be selecting their team members through a blind sort. Alternating turns, each captain then makes a blind statement that will sort people onto the team. Statements here should be blind, meaning there is no way the captain can know who will respond to the statements. For example, one captain might say: “Join my team if you have visited Euro Disney.” Another captain might say: “Join my team if your family has a cat.” Or another: “Join my team if you have an outie belly button.” Using this method, teams usually come out even; if not, allow the low team captain to make another sort from the larger team.
