Visuals for Worship
By Elizabeth Steele Halstead
Faith Alive Christian Resources, 2006,

80 pp. plus CD-ROM, $19.99,

FaithAliveResources.com

If you’re tired of cheesy church art, you will love these meaty, black-and-white images that illuminate the meaning of biblical themes such as baptism, Advent and communion of the saints. Halstead, a resource development specialist for Calvin College’s Institute of Christian Worship, is also one heck of a linoleum block artist.

And these images — along with their accompanying texts — can help believers grasp the deeper meanings of themes that have either become overly familiar or too seldom considered.
