Single adults are lonely, irresponsible, have more time and money than married adults, and are simply afraid of making a marriage commitment. How often have you heard statements such as these? Dennis Franck responds to these common misperceptions and others: The church “needs to help people reject many false, cruel myths and stereotypes about singleness to become the community of healing, strength, help, and wholeness God intends it to be.”
Reaching Single Adults is a comprehensive work that would help churches and leaders to develop vibrant and theologically sound ministries with singles. The book’s structure makes it more suitable for the classroom than a motivational reading piece, however, as it contains a philosophical- and biblical-foundations section, numerous sub-headings, chapter objectives, bulleted list, and a multi-ple-page resource guide. Franck’s years of ministry experience with singles are evident in this exhaustive resource. While it might not be as essential as the subtitle claims, I do think this book would be very helpful to those leading a ministry with singles or teaching a related course.
