Parents are inundated with warnings
about the adverse effects of Internet use. Products like Safekeeper, a
computer security program, offer assurance when a computer must be left
unattended. The three creators of Safekeeper are all fathers of teenagers and
each have over 25 years experience in the technology and media world.
Safekeeper is downloadable to three
computers and also allows for monitoring from remote locations. Its features
include Kidsafe Blocker, Chat Monitor, Time Controls, Predator Alert, and
Safety Shield. While Safekeeper may call to question a child’s right to
privacy, it nonetheless allows for absolute supervision of Internet activity.
Safekeeper Plus offers the same controls and includes anti-virus, anti-spyware,
and firewall options.
Leading competitors, like SafeEyes,
cost more and are usually only downloadable to one computer, making Safekeeper
a wise option for the money conscious.
