Desperate Women of the Bible: Lessons on Passion from the Gospels
By Jo Kadlecek

Baker, 2006, 180 pp., $12.99, www.bakerbooks.com

Building on the belief that “stories help us to make sense of this thing called living and encourage us to face the challenges and glories of another day,” Jo Kadlecek breathes fresh life into the biblical stories of eight women whose names we do not know but whose life stories continue to impact today’s women and men of faith.

Focusing on the passion and hunger that drew these women to Jesus, Kadlecek uses personal and contemporary examples to both connect the reader to the biblical narrative and to draw them into a deeper, richer relationship with Jesus. Though the cover art and title may tell you otherwise, this book can be used by both women and men in a personal or group bible study.
