TobyMac Named Artist of the Year at 39th Annual Dove Awards

Multi-platinum and award winning ForeFront recording artist TobyMac had one of his best GMA Dove Award experiences when he was named Artist of the Year this week, also receiving awards for Short Form Music Video of the Year (“Boomin’”) and Rock Recorded Album of the Year as Artist and Producer with his latest project Portable Sounds.

“I am truly honored to win all 4 awards, especially the Artist of the Year award,” he said. “For GMA to recognize a  Hip-Rock Funk artist flexes our diversity and makes me want to shout. I am blessed to have talented people around me to help me pursue my artistic passion.”

Twelve years ago in 1996, Toby, as a member of dcTalk, last accepted the award for Artist of the Year. As a solo artist TobyMac has been nominated twice for Artist of the Year (2003, 2007) and won seven Dove Awards.
