Three Minutes From Home
After graduating high school in Montana, Luke Dowler felt a new musical direction. He had recently moved from Japan and almost immediately formed a third wave ska band. A few of the members from his previous band, The Royal Rangers, followed the new rock styling to form what is now Three Minutes From Home.

The band went into the studio to record “The Longest Day” which sold 1,800 copies the first two months. After 2 national tours, a Canadian and Australian tour the band went back into the studio to record “Day I Dropped the World”. Songs written for that album helped the band win a regional showcase which gave them the opportunity to travel to Nashville and showcase for Essential Records.

After 3 days of showcasing the band was offered a development deal. The band signed and after a string of higher profile shows including a spotlight at Creation Fest, unfortunately nothing became of the hoped relationship. In 2005 Luke’s brother Zach joined as drummer. And in 2006 after Isaac’s – bass – departure Adam Shilling filled the position. It was a reunion for Luke and Adam. Adam was the original bassist, recording on The Longest Day.

Unafraid to expose their faults and mistakes through their lyrics, the songs connect to a place of hope that goes deeper than skin and bones. The name Three Minutes From Home (birthed from a casual conversation on the way home from a backwoods labor job – rock picking) – is meant to capture the sigh of relief when coming home or the sense of safety felt when in that space.

Despite the band’s indie roots and its seemingly distant locale, the band has opened for or toured with such well known artists as Audio Adrenaline, Downhere, The Afters, Sanctus Real, Petra, Crystal Lewis, and Bleach. They have traveled internationally with Impact World Tour and played such festivals as Hideout, Creation Fest, Festival Con Dios, and Downpour Festival.

Three Minutes From Home recently went into the studio with producer Aaron Sternke (credits on Mercy Me, Third Day, Building 429, Amy Grant) to record Behind Counterfeit Smiles – a 6 song EP. It was recorded in Brown Bannister’s studio in Nashville, TN. “I think this album is the best representation of what we (3MFH) are and what we are becoming.” Luke Dowler – vocals, guitar. The album seems to be the most honest and personally revealing to date. The album creates an atmosphere of finding hope inside the places you wouldn’t expect to find it. “Loss, disappointment, failure……they are all things that can be found within mankind. Inside those places I believe we learn the most about ourselves and have a unique opportunity to cling to real life.” Luke says.

You can find the new album Behind Counterfeit Smiles spring of 2007 on Itunes, www.3mfh.com and with the band touring thru the New Year. www.3mfh.com
