Whether you are shopping for the perfect first guitar for your child or sibling or you are an aspiring song writer yourself, the Martin LXM “Little Martin” Acoustic Guitar is a wonderful instrument. It features a modified 0-14 Martin body with a wood-pattern HPL top, “1-style” Sitka spruce bracing and a micarta fretboard and bridge. The guitar is 23" scale with a Stratabond modified low-oval neck and Martin’s patented neck mortise and it features Gotoh nickel-plated tuners. In other words, even though it’s a smaller guitar, it is still a Martin to the core.
I became acquainted with the LXM first hand after buying one for my son’s sixth birthday. Although it is still a bit on the large size for him, it is still playable (where a full size guitar wouldn’t be) and it sounds absolutely amazing. Surprisingly, the sound is nearly as full and rich as a full size Martin acoustic. The guitar’s smaller size also makes it a great guitar for traveling.
