Martin LXM “Little Martin” Acoustic Guitar
By Russ Long

Whether you are shopping for the perfect first guitar for your child or sibling or you are an aspiring song writer yourself, the Martin LXM “Little Martin” Acoustic Guitar is a wonderful instrument. It features a modified 0-14 Martin body with a wood-pattern HPL top, “1-style” Sitka spruce bracing and a micarta fretboard and bridge. The guitar is 23" scale with a Stratabond modified low-oval neck and Martin’s patented neck mortise and it features Gotoh nickel-plated tuners. In other words, even though it’s a smaller guitar, it is still a Martin to the core.

I became acquainted with the LXM first hand after buying one for my son’s sixth birthday. Although it is still a bit on the large size for him, it is still playable (where a full size guitar wouldn’t be) and it sounds absolutely amazing. Surprisingly, the sound is nearly as full and rich as a full size Martin acoustic. The guitar’s smaller size also makes it a great guitar for traveling. The LXM includes a Martin heavily padded gig bag.
