An Oklahoma church had plans to give a teenager a semiautomatic assault rifle as a game prize at a youth ministry conference.
The church has given away guns to teens before, but they decided against it this year after public pressure.
In years past, the Windsor Hills Baptist church has not publicized the gun give-away, but this year they included it in their marketing material to get kids to the event.
The events promoters claim they canceled the give-away because the pastor who runs the event had a foot injury and wouldn't be able to make it to the conference.
Youth pastor, Bob Ross, further explains the conference is about teens finding faith, not about guns. In addition to the gun give-away, many other activities were scheduled, including hours of teaching.
