Teens struggle to fight their addiction to cigarettes.
A new study from the University of Montreal shows that most teen smokers try to quit after only two and a half months of smoking, but fail. Teens who have smoked for more than 21 months show a marked drop in the confidence they have in themselves to quit.
"These findings indicate teenagers want to quit smoking," says Dr. O'Loughlin, director of the study. "We really need to develop and implement effective tobacco control interventions for young people, before it's too late."
