Youth Ministry must help students grapple with decisions about alcohol.
A recent full-page advertisement in USA Today features Lindsay Lohan’s mug shot as an example of someone who does not make responsible drinking choices.
The American Beverage Institute sponsored the new ad-campaign in order to combat a recent push for the mandatory installation of ignition interlocks, which keep intoxicated drivers of the road by requiring drivers to pass a breathalyzer test before starting their engines.
Lohan’s mug shot is used in the advertisement to demonstrate that while those like Lohan need the additional restrictions, most people can drink responsibly and should not be forced to install ignition interlocks on their vehicles.
There are other debates around the issue which center around requiring the interlocks on the vehicles of drivers under the legal drinking age.
QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:
What is your opinion on the mandatory installation of Ignition Interlocks? What do you think about the installation being mandatory for underage drivers? How do you think Youth Ministers can effectively talk with students about responsible alcohol consumption?
