GUIDELINES

When sharing an idea be specific. Let us know how many kids were involved and whereyou used this idea. How much prep time is needed and what materials did you use? How many times have youused this idea? Are there postive and negatives that a youth ministershould be aware of? What part of the country or world are you from? The more information you can provide about your idea willhelp other youth ministers better implement it in their ministries.

What is your favorite ice-breaker?

Share your favorite ice-breaker or mixer you have used in the past. Tell us how many people can be involved, any materials needed and the best place to do it. (i.e. Is this a Sunday morning indoor mixer or best used at a weekend retreat?).

Big Brother Booth (0.0 Rating)

One of the things we try and do at all our overnight events and retreats is set up "The Booth," a private room with a camcorder set up in it. Students are encouraged to visit the booth "Big Brother" style and record their thoughts about the event. They walk in, hit record, share, stop the camera, and walk out. This has proved to be a treasure chest of great video. Certain events (like 30 Hour Famine) provide an amazing look into the students minds as they process what we're learning and doing. The video can be put on website, used at future meetings, used in promo material, and it does a great job of generating interest for the next time those events come up.

How do you feel about technology being marketed to kids?

Giving cell phones to children, and other similar activities, scares the heck out of me.
I'm concerned about kids getting too much technology before they can handle it, but parents and youth workers can help.
I say go for it. Kids should have access to all the toys we have.
I just wish I had my own cell phone!
