Helping Teenagers in Crisis
By Mark W. Cannister

In the Chinese language crisis can be written with two basic characters which individually represent danger and opportunity. In these indispensable books the authors take great care to guide us through the dangerous issues affecting teenagers with a keen eye toward the opportunities we have as youth leaders and parents to compassionately steer them through the painful situations that litter the landscape of adolescence in our post-modern culture.

Each book begins with an overview that helps us understand the nature of a crisis, providing enough depth for us to effectively comprehend, identify, and respond to critical situations in our homes, churches, and communities. The balance of each book provides practical action plans for preventing and dealing with nearly two dozen specific issues from abuse to cutting to school violence.

These trusted youth workers, who have decades of experience coming alongside hurting families and teenagers, have provided far more than reference books to reach for in a crisis. These are essential books that every youth worker and parent should read ASAP in order to be fully prepared for the inevitable crisis that will arrive, in one form or another, as long as teenagers are a significant part of our lives.
