You Gossip, Girl!
By Paul Asay

One of most popular new shows for teens this year has been CW’s “Gossip Girl,” based on the popular pulp novels of the same name that delve into sex, drugs, and rampant consumerism. But folks watching the show may find a wrinkle they weren’t expecting: parents.

In the books, parents are too busy taking trips to Paris or shopping at Prada to take much interest in their children, leaving them free to party like paparazzi-free Paris Hiltons. But moms and dads are getting some significant screen time in the CW show, particularly parents of poorer, nicer kids. See, father really does know best. (New York Times)
