Susie Davis’ book helps moms influence and guide their children through the chaotic teen years without antagonizing them. Davis encourages moms to practice patience, wisdom, love and trust as they give their children a place to test the wings of independence in a safe environment.

Perhaps her best advice is telling moms not to freak out during these years, but to calm down and trust that they’ve already given their children the training they need to become independent.

This book is best directed toward moms of older teens as they learn to let go. Davis has much to say about transitioning from parenting a child to being the parent of an adult. Younger teens may need more structure and training than this book offers.

Parenting Your Teen and Loving It is long on personal anecdotes and short on practical steps. Some moms may want to know more about the “how” than the “why” of this method of parenting.
