hot and cold
This dramatic vignette is based on Jesus’ rebuke of the lukewarm church of Laodicea found in Revelation 3:15- 16. Laodicea was in between the city Hierapolis, whose water came from hot springs, and Colosse, who had cold water. By the time the water got to Laodicea from either place, it was lukewarm. Visitors who were not used to it would spit it out immediately. Christ says that the church of Laodicea was neither cold for Him nor hot, and He wished they were one or the other. Christ’s desire was that they would seek passionately after spiritual riches and repent of their sins.
