Camp doesn’t begin once you arrive at your chosen resort—it begins the minute your campers show up for departure. You can kick things off right by streamlining your logistics ahead of time. Randy Rainwater’s Grace Student Ministries stages a prepacking day two days before camp when everyone drops off his or her camp luggage and any remaining release forms. The nurse or doctor is on hand to collect all medications and instructions. Any questions or issues can be resolved before camp actually begins.

The result is a quick departure when it’s time to leave for camp. No standing in line. No sitting around on hot busses. “We’ll take 500 kids to camp, and we’ll literally be loaded and gone in 30 minutes from the time we tell them to be there,” Randy says.

Cars with two leaders each are on hand to transport any latecomers, so the entire group doesn’t have to wait. Those additional vehicles also come in handy if anyone gets nauseated or sick on the bus.
